The Meaning of Boje - "TO LIVE"
Jessy, nicknamed Boje, was dealt a difficult hand in life: Crohn's disease, brain illness and drug addiction. His last painting (on the home page) depicts how he felt.
He was a happy, healthy child who skipped to his own beat. He was kind to everyone, a joker, brilliant, excelled in school, played hockey, golf, snowboarding. Was in student council, class president, was creative and loved to paint.
Everything changed for him senior year of high school. There was possible trauma/bullying and the Crohn's disease hit hard. He had major surgery after graduating high school in June 2011. (pain management was oxycodone)
Jessy was never the same. He was dealing with Crohn's, PTSD, brain illness and drugs. He had been through rehab and also hospitalized for his brain. Most of the time he was good. Jessy completed two years of college at OSU and TRI-C. He enjoyed life and worked with his dad. But there were dark times.
November 2017, Jessy had emergency Crohn's surgery again. He was really sick from all the meds he was on and would vomit frequently. The surgeon promised part two of the surgery would be done by the end of year. Due to miscommunication at the hospital, part two was not done. That was the beginning of the end. Jessy fell into a depression and took his life on January 9, 2018. He was 24 years old.
We are telling his story to try to help others and to invoke change. This a call of action and support.
Hugs,
Sandy, Tony and Kelsey Musachio
